FAQ

The key to a refreshed and youthful look is to keep it natural. As we age, we begin to lose our ability to produce new elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin. At the same time, we experience a loss of facial and lip volume.

Wrinkles and volume loss are a natural part of the ageing process – We understand the science behind ageing. We combine market-leading cosmetic injectable products with advanced facial anatomy knowledge.

Our skilled and qualified cosmetic Nurses and Doctors will assess your individual needs and select the right cosmetic injectables treatment for you.

How do Anti-wrinkle Injections work?

Wrinkles are caused by too many contractions of your face muscles over many years. Anti-wrinkle injections diminish the strength of these facial muscles by supressing the signals from the nerves to the muscle and preventing them from contracting an excessive amount and forming wrinkles. For instance, anti-wrinkle injections can be used to relax the muscles around the eyes in order to prevent the development of crow’s feet.

Anti-wrinkle injections do not instantly improve the wrinkle lines (static lines) you see on your skin. On the other hand, after a number of anti-wrinkle treatments, skin that is normally creased can rest and recover and improvement in static lines is typically visible.

How many units will I need to get rid of my frown lines and crow’s feet?

To determine the correct dosage you need to book in for a complimentary consultation with one of our Cosmetic Injectors.

Do anti-wrinkle cosmetic injectables hurt?

Everyone experiences pain differently and has different pain thresholds. However, when it comes to anti-wrinkle injections, most people compare the sensation of the face injections to a quick prick. There is a slight pinching feeling, but it only lasts for a few seconds.

How long do anti-wrinkle cosmetic injectable results last?

Anti-wrinkle injections start to work 2-3 days after the injection and reach their full effect within 7-14 days. The effects can typically last for up to 3-4 months depending on the individual.

How much will the treatment cost?

At Del Mar Injectables anti-wrinkle injections are priced per unit (a dosage), therefore cost depends on how much is needed in units to achieve the desired result. As well, different treatment areas require different dosing and the dose required for each individual may vary. Some people have a very deep, strong frowning muscle for example while other’s have a weaker, smaller frowning complex – so the dose (how many units needed) and the cost can vary.

Because muscle contraction and movement is different in each person we have to actually see the area to assess and determine dosing and therefore cost. To do this we are required to perform the assessment face-to-face in the consultation, rather than over the phone. As mentioned earlier, the consultation is free and is a great opportunity to discuss all the options available and give you an accurate quote.

How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal fillers work by imitating a naturally occurring substance within your body – a sugar molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. Its normal function is to bind water so it acts as a lubricant and shock absorber in movable parts of the body, such as joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in skin. By boosting your skin with this naturally occurring substance, dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the area instantly. This diminishes the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look. The gel we use is very tissue-friendly and closely resembles that which exists in the body.

What are the benefits of dermal filler?

Results from a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for up to 6 months or over a year depending on the thickness of the product and a number of biological factors of an individual client. We use dermal filler injections to give a natural looking result that does not affect facial expression. Our face changes as we age, so dermal fillers allow you to control your looks subtly over time.

What areas can be treated?

Dermal fillers can be used to help smooth away smile lines, create fuller lips and shape facial contours, such as cheeks and chin, as well as hydrate and revitalise the skin. The most common areas treated are the nose to mouth lines (the nasolabial folds), the lips (adding volume and shape), the cheeks and jaw.
