Before + Aftercare

The importance of being prepared for your treatment

When undergoing any anti wrinkle, fat freezing or filler it is extremely important to familarise yourself with the before and aftercare requirements of each treatment to ensure the best possible results.

Before treatment

To lower your risk of bruising:

 

  • Avoid exercise for 24 hour prior to treatment.

  • No alcohol, blood thinners, anti-inflammatories (incl. fish oil & vitamin E) for 3-7 days prior. 

  • Please ensure you are in good health two weeks prior to treatment. 

  • No vaccinations two weeks before treatment. 

  • No antibiotics two weeks before treatment.

  • No coldsores present. 

  • No dental work/surgeries two weeks prior to treatment.

  • If you are allergic to bees/anaphylaxis, please note filler will likely not be an option. Please discuss further with your nurse.

Aftercare

What to expect:

  • Immediately after the treatment swelling, bruising, redness, asymmetry, tenderness in the treated area.

  • Expect bruises over the next few days. These should resolve on their own.

  • Increased swelling from days 1-3. Swelling will start to decrease after this.

  • It will take up to 4 weeks for the filler to be totally integrated.

 

Things you can do after:

  • You can eat and drink normally. Be carefully of hot food or drinks after numbing agents. As you will have altered sensation and be at risk of burning yourself

  • You can take paracetamol if required. Avoid blood thinning medications.

  • If you have a history of cold sores and we have injected around your mouth, go to the pharmacy and take oral acyclovir to prevent an out break.

  • You can take antihistamines to help with swelling.

  • You can take arnica orally to help with bruising.

  • 4 hours after treatment, you can apply cold packs intermittently to help with swelling.

  • No exercise for the first 24hrs and only gentle exercise up-until 48 hours.

  • You can cleanse your face and continue regular skin routine 4 hours post treatment.

  • You can apply make up the next day.

 

What you should not do:

  • No alcohol for 24 hours after. This will increase your risk of bruises.

  • Do not touch the treated area for 4 hours, this will reduce your risk of infection.

  • Avoid excessively hot environmentsfor 24 hours.

  • Do not massage the filler. If you are concerned please return to clinic and have the specialist review it.

  • No skin needling, peels, waxing, tattooing or any form of skin penetrative treatment for 2 weeks.

  • No cosmecuetical skin products (retinals AHA / BHA) for 24 hours post.

  • Do not apply pressure to the areas for 2 weeks, for example, firm face masks, helmets, goggles, laying face down on a massage bed. This could deform the filler.

 

If you experience anything more than light bruising, slight pain and swelling, please contact the clinic ASAP.
